Take accurate measurements of the caster housing prior to cutting into case surface. At four corners of this cut-out, tap 4 each 1/4" holes through the case surface to align with the holes in the corners of the caster housing. Drop recessed caster assembly into place. Instructions:
If purchasing this item as a hardware item, preferred installation is by way of 9 aluminum pop rivets. Pre-cut an opening at corners of case where you'll be installing the casters. Take accurate measurements of the caster housing prior to cutting into case surface. After you've made the cut-out for caster assembly and have dropped it into place, tap 9 each 1/4" holes through the case surface to align with the holes in the caster housing. Drop recessed caster assembly into place. Drop rivets into the holes you've already drilled. Slide a 1/4" steel washer over the rivet from inside the case and "pop" the rivets. |
| Attachment to Case:The 3" recessed casters are attached with heavy-duty aluminum rivets backed with metal washers and are mounted in a pre-routed cut-out at case outer 90 degree angle. | |
| Limitations:The 3" recessed casters are ideally suited to less rigorous travel and lighter weight loads where one person plans on handling the case & contents. When installed, these casters elevate your case a total of 1" off ground surface and are offset with rubber feet and/or edge protective strips to keep case level when sitting on flat surface. Remember, caster housing recesses 2" into the case interior. This must be compensated for with additional polyfoam case lining and a possible increase to case length. Case dimension to which 3" recessed casters are mounted must be minimally 13" to maintain sufficient distance between casters for smooth rolling. If telescopic aluminum tow handle is specified, the dimension to which its installed can be no less than 23" to accommodate the handle recessed mechanism. Also, case height must be increased by 2-1/2" to accommodate the recessed handle mechanism. We will make recommendations for optimum caster installation. Always try to keep the weight concentration in your case near the casters for added stability. |
