Our client stipulated numerous guidelines, information and requirements that the finished system must meet.   Following is a brief listing of those guidelines and requirements which we took into consideration before designing and building this case system:

A listing of all components to be rackmounted, and those to be organized in the lower drawered case.
Case system must set-up and tear down easily by one person in less than 10 minutes.
All items within the rackmount case must be securely fastened in precisely installed and positioned EIA compliant 10-32 tapped rack rails.
Drawers must be of sufficient strength to support 100+ pounds and glide mechanisms must fully extend for easy access to rear of drawer.
System must be thoroughly operable from within its inner rack shell to economize operators time enhance ease of use.
System must be able to withstand excessive airline transit and common carrier transit.

The case system shown here is ideally suited for field work or portable trade show demonstrations.   Variations to consider are an increase in the number and size of drawers, an increase or decrease to rackable component height or depth, a smaller system with single width rack case and narrower drawers, or perhaps a third stackable case with ventilated space for a video monitor(s), a pull-out keyboard shelf, or additional components.
