Each Professional Series rack is comprised of 3 sets of rack rails:
1 set of 4 rails for the rack width
1 set of 4 rails for the rack depth
1 set of 4 rails for the rack height
The graphic below shows a width rail and 2
height rails slid into
the upper left & right corner connectors.
Note that 1U (1-3/4")
of the rack rails length is consumed by the
corner connector
both left and right and top and bottom.
As a result, a Professional
Series rack that has, say 12U (21") of
rackable component space
must have height rack rails that are 14U
(24-1/2") in overall length.
So, a 12U high x 20" deep Professional
Series rack (part #RF1220)
has height rails that are actually 14U
long.
