Rack Cases are used to support and transport
E.I.A. (electronic Industries Alliance) compliant Electronic Equipment. There are
also 24 Inch Rack Mountable Equipment Case standards used by a small percentage of
specialty electronic equipment manufacturers, typically in the
telecommunications industry.
A standard similarity of Rackable Electronic Equipment is the use of metal angle brackets
fastened to the chassis of the Electronic Equipment. All manufacturers of Rack
Mountable Equipment follow a continuous hole-centering pattern on these metal angle
brackets. This coordinates with a matching Rack Mountable continuous rail supplied in
every Star Case Rack Case product. It is used to fasten the Electronic Equipment to
this Rack Mountable Rail. By matching up the holes in the Electronic Equipment Metal
angle Bracket with the Rails mounted to the Rack Case and fastening the two together
provides easy access for installation, quickly and efficiently.
The metal mounting angle brackets
follows a repeating pattern of spacing and maintains a mounting hole center of
1-3/4 inch on a continuous pattern. This is accomplished by placing 1/4 inch
holes, or 10-32 threads
along the angle mounting rails using a unique hole pattern of 1/2 inch, then 5/8 inch,
then 5/8 inch, again and again repeating this pattern for as long as the case mounting
rail extends.
This mounting rail and special hole pattern sequence is one of many E.I.A. specifications
and only one of the special features that make Rack Mountable Equipment Cases unique from
the rest of our case lines.
Our Rack Mountable Equipment cases are available in a variety of styles. We use the
term styles to make it easy for our customers to order their
Rack Cases by how they intend to access their Rack Mountable Electronic Equipment in it's
case. Some customers choose to have Front and Rear access to their rack equipment.
Others ask for an internal Case to fit inside a soft foam lined exterior case, and so on.
Regardless of what particular access you choose, Star Case has a stock design to
fit your every application. Please click on the Rackmount Styles link below
to help you decide which particular Rack Case Style is just right for your needs.
