The removable caster bracket provides a means for easy removable and attachment of Star Case 3-1/2" and 5" casters.  Manufactured of heavy gauge steel, these plates allow for a positive steel-enclosed track for the caster mounting plate to slide in.  Once firmly in place, a spring-loaded retention pin keeps the caster securely in place.  Simply depress the spring-loaded pin and slide the caster from its track.  The advantages to the removable caster plate are that the case needn't be transported on its casters while taking up less room while in storage or within a transport trailer or cargo hold.  Once on-site, simple re-install your casters.  This option is available on all Star Case types.

If purchasing this item as a hardware item, preferred installation is by way of 4 each 1/4" bolts with nylon speed nuts with washers.  Pre-drill 4 holes per removable caster bracket through the bottom of the case using the removable caster mounting plate as a template.  Pass 4 bolts with 1" steel washers through each hole from inside the case.  Use a minimum 1/2" plywood casterboard between the bottom of the case and the removable caster plates.  Install plates over 4 bolts.  Place 1/2" steel washer over bolt, install speed nuts and tighten.  You'll probably need assistance holding the head of the bolt from inside the case while tightening.  For further assistance, call Star Case @ 800-822-7827.  

The removable caster place is permanently bolted to the casterboard beneath the case by means of 4 each 1/4" steel bolts, washers and nylon speed-nuts.
